UI UX Design Services in India: costs, delivery models and data rules
What does UI UX design services cost in India?
UI UX design services in India typically run from ₹3,60,000 to ₹18,40,000, or $5,500 to $28,000, for a scoped engagement covering research, interface design and a component set. This piece covers what moves that price, the delivery models available, DPDP obligations on research data, and how to judge a partner.
UI UX design services in India typically run from ₹3,60,000 to ₹18,40,000, or $5,500 to $28,000, for a scoped engagement covering research, interface design and a component set. Rates in Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad sit below London and New York for equivalent seniority, and GST invoicing applies to domestic clients.
This article explains what moves a quote inside that band, the delivery models you can actually buy, what the DPDP Act means for research recordings and user data, how the working day runs across IST, UK and US East hours, and where hiring in India is the wrong answer.
What does UI UX design services cost in India?
Our own published band is the clearest reference point. UI/UX design and development at Eazyware starts at $5,500 or ₹3,60,000 and runs to $28,000 or ₹18,40,000. The low end buys a focused engagement: research with a small number of users, the three or four journeys that matter, and a token set with roughly ten components. The high end buys a governed design system across several products, full accessibility conformance and a built front end.
Design rarely arrives alone, and the surrounding numbers set the context. A full-stack web application starts at $14,000 or ₹8,80,000, a React Native mobile application at $17,500 or ₹11,20,000, and a SaaS or cloud-native platform at $31,500 or ₹20,80,000. All starting figures sit on the pricing page, in both currencies, because a UI UX design services company in India that will not publish a starting number usually has a different number for each enquiry.
The single biggest driver of cost in India, as anywhere, is the number of distinct states rather than the number of screens. A checkout with eleven states costs more to design than four marketing pages, whatever the page count suggests. The broader rate comparison is covered in software development pricing in India versus the US.
Which delivery model should you buy?
Cost per hour is the least useful way to compare these. Compare on who carries the risk of being wrong, and on what you own at the end.
| Model | Typical Indian cost shape | Best for | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freelance designer | Day rate, no floor on total | One surface, clear brief, short job | No cover, no research, no front end |
| Boutique design studio | Project fee, visual-led | Brand and marketing surfaces | Handover stops at the file |
| Product engineering firm | Fixed-price programme, design plus build | Products that must ship and be maintained | Higher entry price than a studio |
| Offshore staff augmentation | Monthly rate per person | Extending an existing in-house team | You supply direction and quality control |
| In-house hire | Salary plus tooling, three-month ramp | Continuous product work | Slow to start, single point of failure |
| Global agency | Two to four times Indian project fees | Multi-market brand programmes | Cost, and distance from your engineers |
For a company that needs an interface designed and then built and kept alive, the fixed-price programme usually wins, because the party drawing the screens is the party who has to make them work. A fixed price against a defined surface list also removes the argument that a day rate invites.
Data rules: DPDP, research recordings and residency
Design work touches personal data more than teams expect. User research produces recordings of identifiable people. Prototype testing on a staging environment may use real customer records. Analytics instrumentation added during a redesign collects behavioural data. All of that falls under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Three practical obligations follow. Get explicit, purpose-limited consent before recording a research session, and say how long the recording will be kept. Use synthetic or masked data in prototypes rather than a copy of production, which is both a compliance position and a better test, since synthetic records expose assumptions real ones hide. Delete research material on the schedule you promised, and make deletion a contractual obligation on the vendor rather than a preference. The wider obligations are set out in DPDP Act 2023 and what Indian companies must do, and the design-specific version in UI UX design services, security and the DPDP Act.
Residency is a simpler question for design than for data platforms, because the artefacts are files rather than live customer data. Where it matters is the research archive and any staging environment holding real records. Both can sit in an Indian region of your cloud account, under your control, and we work inside client infrastructure as standard.
Designing for Indian users, not just from India
A team in Bengaluru has one advantage a distant studio does not: it uses the same networks and the same devices as a large part of your audience. That matters because interface decisions have performance consequences. Google's Core Web Vitals define user-centred thresholds for loading, interaction responsiveness and visual stability, and a design that specifies four web fonts, full-bleed imagery and a client-rendered table will miss them on a mid-range Android handset on a congested network.
The design implications are concrete: budget the page weight before choosing the typography, design the list view before the dashboard, specify what the screen shows at one second and at five, and treat the offline state as a designed state rather than an error. Test on the cheapest device your audience actually uses, not on the designer's laptop.
Language is the other half. Indic scripts change line heights, truncation behaviour and button widths, and a layout designed only in English breaks the first time a Kannada or Tamil string is twice as long. Design in at least two languages from the start if you will ever ship in two.
How the working week actually runs
Our head office is in Bengaluru and we work across IST, UK and US East hours. In practice a UK client overlaps with an Indian team for most of the afternoon in IST, and a US East client overlaps in the early evening. That is enough for a daily working session and for same-day answers, provided the overlap is used for decisions rather than status. What does not work is a weekly call with an Indian studio and silence in between, which is a process failure rather than a geography failure. Working with an Indian company from the UK and EU covers the operating detail.
How to judge an Indian design partner
- Ask for a live Indian product they designed, ideally one used on mid-range Android devices rather than a desktop brand site.
- Check whether they build as well as design. A UI UX design services company in India that hands over a file and leaves has moved the hardest part onto you.
- Ask how they handle Indic languages and whether their components were tested with longer strings.
- Ask for the DPDP position in writing: consent wording, retention period, where recordings are stored, who deletes them.
- Confirm INR invoicing with GST if you are an Indian entity, or USD if you are not.
- Ask who owns the files. You should own source files, component code and documentation outright.
- Check the overlap hours against your own team's working day before you sign, not after.
When hiring UI UX design services in India is the wrong choice
Two situations genuinely argue against it. If the product's value depends on deep, continuous ethnographic contact with users in a single distant market, for example a clinical workflow in a specific hospital system, the cost advantage will not cover the travel and the lost context. Buy local research and use an Indian team for the build instead.
The second case is a company that wants a vendor to supply direction it has not formed. Distance amplifies vagueness. If nobody on your side can decide what the product is for, an Indian studio, a London studio and an in-house hire will all produce the same result, which is expensive iteration. Decide the proposition first, then buy design.
There is also an honest note on the low end of the market. India has excellent design practice and a large volume of very cheap output, and the difference between them is not visible in a portfolio. A quote far below the band above is usually a quote for drawings, not for a working interface.
What an Indian engagement looks like
For a growing direct-to-consumer brand, the design work ran across the storefront and a WhatsApp support channel, which are different surfaces with different constraints and one shared voice. The personalisation and WhatsApp support case study describes what shipped. The relevant point for this article is that the messaging surface was designed for the phone most of those customers actually carried, tested on that class of device, and the copy was written to be read in a chat thread rather than on a page.
Teams evaluating UI UX design services in Bangalore should ask to see exactly that kind of evidence: work designed for the real device, not for the presentation.

Frequently asked questions
What does UI UX design cost in Bangalore?
▾
Scoped engagements at Eazyware run from ₹3,60,000 to ₹18,40,000, equivalent to $5,500 to $28,000. The lower figure covers research, a few core journeys and a small component set; the upper covers a governed design system, accessibility conformance and a built front end. Indian clients are invoiced in INR with GST.
Does the DPDP Act apply to user research recordings?
▾
Yes. A research recording identifies a person, so it is personal data. Take purpose-limited consent before recording, state a retention period, store the archive where you control it, and make deletion on schedule a contractual obligation on your design vendor rather than an informal understanding.
Is an Indian design partner cheaper than a global agency?
▾
Usually by a factor of two to four for an equivalent scope, but the more useful advantage is proximity to engineering and to Indian devices and networks. Judge a partner on live shipped products, handover quality and ownership terms, because the cheapest quotes in the market are for drawings rather than working interfaces.
